"The Garmin Marine Network provides an easy-to-use and affordable network option for any boater. The system is designed around the GPSMAP 5200 series of Multifunction Displays (MFD). Each display can serve as a stand-alone plotter or can be networked with other MFDs and sensors to deliver XM weather, radar, and sonar fishfinding. All MFDs and sensors communicate through a 100-megabit Garmin proprietary Ethernet-based network. The entire system is waterproof and completely plug-and-play; the MFDs automatically detect any and all peripherals once they're connected. The three built-in network ports allow you can connect multiple MFDs and sensors to the same network. Each networked MFD can be configured independently. In addition to the fishfinding and radar sensors, a unique feature to the Garmin Marine Network is the GDL 30 weather data receiver. Through a partnership with XM WX Satellite Weather, you can access real-time graphical weather data for the United States directly on any of the GPSMAP 5200 Series MFDs without the need for a separate PC interface. For those wanting more than 120 channels of XM Satellite Radio along with weather data, Garmin also offers the GDL 30A, which provides a unique audio-channel interface that allows for connection to an on-board stereo. A separate subscription is required to receive XM WX Satellite Weather and XM Satellite Radio transmissions. The Garmin 5200 series of multifunction displays (MFD) feature a completely touch screen interface. No more confusing buttons or dials! You can now navigate your way through Garmin's new and improved user interface at the simple touch of the screen. Each display can be used stand-alone or can be networked using the three built-in network ports with other MFDs and sensors to deliver XM weather, radar, and sonar fishfinding. These units ship preloaded with Garmin's highly-detailed Bluechart® g2™ cartography for the entire coastal United States including Alaska, Hawaii, and the Bahamas. The Bluechart® g2™ cartography features include integrated mapping, 2D or 3D map perspective, tide and current data, improved IALA symbols, navaids, marina, boat ramps, roads, and more. Both units come with an SD card slot (SD Card Optional) for saving waypoints, routes, and tracks or to put in Garmin's new Bluechart® g2 Vision™ cartography cards. The optional g2 Vision cards give you 3D perspectives above and below the waterline, aerial reference photography, auto guidance, coastal roads, and points of interest detail. They are fully waterproof (submersible) and come complete with WAAS enabled 12-channel GPS antenna, power cable, video cable, flat-screen style flush mount hardware, and sun cover.GPSMAP 5208 - The GPSMAP 5208 features an 8.4" diagonal VGA touchscreen. The sunlight readable touchscreen features a 640 x 480 resolution for a clear and detailed picture.
