"Garmin continues to refine their extremely popular eTrex series with the new eTrex Vista CX and eTrex Legend CX. A new feature is the standard microSD slot. Both units ship with a 32 MB microSD. With all this memory, you can store plenty of data to make your eTrex a complete land and sea navigator. The eTrex CX series continues to offer a 256 color, sunlight readable display, USB ports for faster downloading, and fast processors to support automatic routing functions with significantly lower power requirements. Both units are built around WAAS-enabled 12-channel GPS receivers that provide three-meter accuracy (with WAAS signal). These rugged machines are fully submersible, and like all eTrex units the primary controls are located on the side of the unit for convenient one-handed operation. Both units feature Garmin's Recreational Routable Basemap with built-in highways and major roads for all of North America and accept additional detailed mapping from Garmin's MapSource CD library. Use the optional City Select CD to turn your eTrex into a turn-by-turn car navigator with over five million points of interest on highways, city streets, and residential roads. With the optional BlueChart CD, you can download full color marine maps complete with navaids, depth contours, and port plans. The eTrex series include a 32 MB microSD card for memory storage and battery life of 36 hours on two AA batteries. The eTrex Vista C battery life is 20 hours on two AA batteries. The Vista C is great for the outdoor enthusiast with its built-in electronics compass for displaying accurate bearing information while standing still and barometric altimeter to provide elevation data and pressure trends. The elevation computer keeps track of current elevation, min/max, and ascent/descent rates, while the barometer function keeps local pressure and 48-hour pressure trend recording.
