System matched to the Northstar 6000i family of network navigation systems, the 3300 is an autopilot that features a 3.8" diagonal, 320 x 240 QVGA, transflective (TFT) color display that uses ambient light for impressive daylight viewability. A rotary control dial allows easy course adjustments, menu selections, and day and night view variable backlight adjustments. A dedicated "turns" mode button has also been incorporated for simple access to the primary autopilot steering function. The 3300 displays on-screen illustrations of the pilot's intentions when the dedicated dodge key is pressed. It includes an innovative compass display for graphic display of heading, XTE, and course information. A variety of operational modes allow you to steer to a compass heading, follow a preset GPS course, or steer to a specified true or apparent wind angle. The unit's rate gyro, used in conjunction with a supplied fluxgate compass, provides a stable heading for better course keeping and an overall smoother ride. A truly intelligent crew member, the 3300 assists user setup with a series of step-by-step configuration menus and uses smart diagnostics to detect potential problems in the system components. Adjustable alarms for course error, cross track error, low battery voltage, and high drive current to allow for corrective action. The Northstar 3300 Autopilot is suitable for installation on all vessels and includes a black-box control head, a rate gyro, a fluxgate compass, and rudder feedback unit.
